Privacy Policy

What we collect, what we do not collect, and what choices you have. The short answer is: very little, and not much that is yours.

1. The short version

SupportPet.org is a static educational website. We do not run accounts, we do not ask you to sign up for anything, and we do not sell, advertise, or operate forms that collect your personal information. Our hosting provider records standard, aggregated visitor analytics so we can see which pages people read. That is essentially the entire data story.

The rest of this page spells out the details so we are being fully honest with you.

2. Who this policy applies to

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through the website at supportpet.org and www.supportpet.org (the "Site"). It does not apply to any third-party site we link to, even when we link to it.

3. Information we collect

We try to keep this list as short as possible.

  • Aggregated visitor analytics. Our hosting provider, Vercel, collects privacy-friendly analytics about visits to the Site. Typical data points include the page you viewed, your approximate country, the type of device and browser you used, the referring site, and a hashed identifier that helps count unique visits. We use this information to understand which pages are useful and to fix problems. Vercel's analytics are designed to work without cookies and without collecting personal identifiers from you. See Vercel's privacy policy for the details.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps temporary server logs that may include IP addresses, request paths, status codes, and timestamps. These are used for security and reliability and are kept for a short period.
  • Email you send us. If you contact us at admin@supportpet.org, we receive the email address you wrote from and whatever you put in the message. We use it only to reply to you and we do not add you to any mailing list.

We do not run a contact form, account system, comment section, or newsletter on the Site. We do not collect health information, medical records, names, addresses, or payment information.

4. Cookies and tracking

The Site does not set advertising cookies or run third-party advertising trackers. Vercel's analytics are designed to function without cookies. Your browser may store standard items such as the Site's icon and font caches, and any anchor or scroll position you create while reading. None of that is personal information about you.

5. Third-party services we rely on

  • Vercel — hosts the Site and provides aggregated analytics. See vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
  • Google Fonts — serves the fonts used on the Site. When your browser requests a font, Google receives a standard request including your IP address. Google states that Fonts requests are not used for advertising and are logged only for short-term operational purposes. See developers.google.com/fonts/faq/privacy.

We are not responsible for how these providers handle data on their own platforms. Their policies govern that.

6. How we use information

We use the small amount of information described above to:

  • Operate, secure, and improve the Site;
  • Understand which pages are read and which are not;
  • Respond to messages you send us;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your information to train any machine-learning model.

7. How long we keep information

Analytics and server logs are retained by our hosting provider for the periods they describe in their own policies, generally a matter of days to a few months for raw logs and longer for aggregated reports. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to handle your question and then deleted in the normal course.

8. Your choices and rights

You can browse the Site without giving us any information. You can use your browser's privacy controls, "Do Not Track" signal, or a tracker-blocking extension to limit even the small amount of analytics described above.

Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or the UK GDPR. These can include the right to know what information is held about you, to request a copy, to ask for correction or deletion, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email admin@supportpet.org and describe what you would like us to do. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.

Because we do not run accounts and do not collect identifiers tied to you, in most cases we will not have any personal information of yours to access or delete beyond the email you sent us.

9. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for a general adult audience. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us at admin@supportpet.org and we will delete it.

10. Security

The Site is served over HTTPS and is hosted on infrastructure that uses standard industry safeguards. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International visitors

The Site is operated from the United States. If you visit from outside the United States, you understand that any information processed in connection with your visit may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Site changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will try to be clearer about what changed.

13. Contact

Questions about this policy or your privacy on the Site can be sent to admin@supportpet.org.

Plain-language summary. No accounts. No newsletters. No ads. The hosting provider counts page views in an aggregated way and our font provider serves fonts. If you email us, we read your email and reply to it.
